Start Up
Is Start Up suitable for cycling inert rock and substrate?
Yes. Some of the bacterial strains contained in BioDigest will colonize inert rock and substrate. However, the cycling process may take longer, as the bacteria require additional time to fully establish themselves on inert surfaces.
I'm redoing my aquarium, is it okay to use Start Up?
Yes. When re-establishing your aquarium, Start Up can be used to effectively restart and support the biological filtration system.
I put in both Start Up ampoules at the same time. Is there a risk?
No. The contents of both Stop Ammo and BioDigest can be added simultaneously. These products are specifically designed to work together in supporting water quality and biological balance.
Isn't the ‘cycling’ of an aquarium a long process and necessary before introducing livestock?
Yes, when left without intervention, the cycling process can take a significant amount of time. The use of Start Up accelerates the key stages of cycling and enhances the overall efficiency of the process, helping to establish a stable biological system more quickly.
Do I need to turn off my UV, Ozone, or Protein Skimmer when dosing Start Up?
Yes. When adding the BioDigest component of Start Up, you should turn off the UV sterilizer, ozone system, and protein skimmer for approximately four hours. This allows sufficient time for the bacteria to fully colonize the aquarium system and biological filtration media.
